Assistant Supervisor Passenger Services - Overnight (Doubtful Sound)

Date: 12 June 2019

Are you a frontrunner when it comes to being friendly and getting on with a team? Do you have a strong hospitality background, a passion for people, and experience leading a team?

We are looking for an Assistant Supervisor - Passenger Services to join our crew in Doubtful Sound to proactively deliver great service and engage customers.

You will be responsible for assisting and stepping in for the Supervisor - Passenger Services to ensure the overnight cruise operation runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities include assisting the Supervisor - Passenger Services with:

  • Supporting staff and making sure they have appropriate preparation and training for their roles;
  • Providing guidance, recognition and constructive feedback around their performance;
  • Focusing on developing and motivating a strong team that works well together to provide Remarkable Customer Experiences;
  • Keeping the communication channels open and effective between the Navigator team, the Manapouri Office and external contacts.
  • Accurate ordering of goods in liaison with the Overnight Operations Manager to ensure the vessel has sufficient goods to stock the bar, galley and cleaning supplies.

Alongside this you will be busy assisting passengers and ensuring vessel, staff and passenger safety is maintained at all times. You'll be part of a small team in a demanding environment so we're looking for someone who's not afraid to work hard. Most importantly you'll be a lively team player who enjoys getting in, being engaged with customers and doing what's required to ensure the best experience for everyone on-board.

This is a fixed term, full-time position where you are lucky enough to be on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster, providing you with an unique opportunity to work and play hard in this beautiful part of Southern New Zealand.  You'll be based on board the vessel for your days on; with your own accommodation and all meals provided.

As part of your role you will have the opportunity to gain a NZ Certificate in Domestic Maritime Crewing - a NZQA approved qualification. Working for Real Journeys gives you the chance to get out and about experiencing our products in Queenstown, Fiordland and Stewart Island. This also includes staff benefits and discounts across the Wayfare Group (Go Orange, Cardona and the International Antarctic Centre). These are just some of the great staff benefits on offer!

If you enjoy the idea of living in a close-knit crew and you are excited by the opportunity to assist with leading a team in a high energy yet remote setting, then we would love to hear from you!
