Nature Guide - Overnight (Doubtful Sound)

Date: 30 July 2020

Are you a fan of flora, fauna and all nature has to offer in Fiordland? We are looking for an outgoing character with a passion for people and the outdoors to join our team in Doubtful Sound as a Nature Guide. You'll be showcasing the best of New Zealand via vessel, tender boat or kayak providing an educational commentary and top kiwi hospitality!

As Nature Guide you will wake up on a boat in the middle of the fiord each morning and help to provide a remarkable customer experience for up to 72 customers onboard. You will be someone who can appreciate the beauty, history and cultural significance that Fiordland has to offer, as you will be sharing it with just a select few people that get a chance to visit this breath-taking part of New Zealand.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for people and the outdoors;
  • Has an appetite for both growing and sharing their knowledge of Fiordland;
  • Is a talented public speaker, with a knack for story telling;
  • Possesses a positive, can do attitude;
  • Is a personable team player, able to pull together to get the job done;
  • Has maritime experience or a passion for boats - although this is not mandatory;
  • Is New Zealand proud and would thrive in a remote national park environment

This is a fixed-term, full-time position starting mid-September and finishing in May 2021. You will be on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster, providing you with an unique opportunity to work and play hard in this beautiful part of Southern New Zealand.  You'll be based on board the vessel for your days on; with your own accommodation and all meals provided.

As part of your role you will have the opportunity to gain a NZ Certificate in Domestic Maritime Crewing - a NZQA approved qualification. Working for Real Journeys also gives you the chance to experience our products in Queenstown, Fiordland and Stewart Island. This includes staff benefits and discounts across the Wayfare Group (Go Orange, Cardona, Treble Cone and the International Antarctic Centre).

If you're a captive communicator who is passionate about sharing your knowledge with all audiences then get in touch today!
