Sous Chef

Are you the crème de la crème of Chefs? Passionate about using local fresh and seasonal produce for your culinary creations?

As Sous Chef at Walter Peak’s Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the leadership, development and supervision of kitchen staff, this will include;

  • Providing ongoing support, motivation and leadership to other Walter Peak kitchen staff to ensure their efficiency
  • Assisting in the training of junior chefs to the required standard
  • Awareness of safe food handling, preparation, serving and storage regulations and regularly checking that these standards are being adhered to

As well as being a talented Chef, you will be passionate, results driven and enthusiastic, capable of serving menus which focus on local seasonal produce, working in a high-performing team, and capable of producing excellent quality food.

Who are we looking for?

  • A positive personality; someone with energy and enthusiasm
  • At least 5 years previous experience as a Chef
  • Someone with the ability to translate ideas into a menu
  • Someone with knowledge of all areas of a professional kitchen environment, appropriate food handling and food safety
  • A team player who enjoys doing what’s required to ensure the best experience for the customers
