Health and Safety Manager

We offer a variety of tourism experiences from Stewart Island to Queenstown; including world renowned cruises through Milford and Doubtful Sounds, the Te Anau Glowworm Caves, adrenaline pumping white water rafting, to the heritage steamship TSS Earnslaw and exhilarating jet boat rides. Our simple aim - to share our backyard with visitors from all over the world!

We are looking for a Health and Safety Manager who will be pivotal in driving a Health and Safety culture and best practice approach at all levels. Ensuring our people and guest's safety is paramount to all we offer and all we do so this will be a critical component in this role.

In conjunction with the Health and Safety team, you will be partnering with our business leaders to raise the bar and deliver an industry leading Health and Safety approach, on and off the water, applying specialist knowledge and expertise to educate and enable us to deliver continuously exceptional and safe experiences .

No desk for this role - you'll be out on the road working with our teams, coaching and mentoring our experience managers and empowering your team to do what they do best out in the field - working across our 'offices' in Stewart Island, Te Anau, Manapouri, Doubtful, Milford Sound and Queenstown.

This is a full time, permanent role which can be based in Te Anau or Queenstown.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 7- 10 years operational experience in H&S;
  • Proven H&S and compliance experience at a senior level;
  • A relevant H&S qualification, including a first aid certificate;
  • A full NZ driver's licence;
  • Proven leadership and people management experience with the ability to work with a wide variety of people;
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders;
  • Effective listening and time management skills;
  • The ability to deliver efficient, accurate and clear business reports;
  • Tourism and/or maritime industry experience (preferable).
